Her jewelleries are as charming and worldly as her. She reveals her love for her native city of Copenhagen and how her travels help share her designs
After earning her postgraduate degree from the Royal College of Arts in London, Sophie Bille Brahe unleashed her artistry to the world through her eponymous label of fine jewellery. She draws inspiration from, among others, poetic elements and her Scandinavian heritage. She shares her favourite creation, an 18-karat gold ear cuff with champagne-coloured diamonds, which was heavily influenced by her ancestry.
“I created the Croissant de Lune for my first collection, Le Fênetre. This is still my absolute favourite piece even though I made it ten years ago. It was inspired by my ancestor Tycho Brahe who was a notable Danish astronomer in the 16th century. I grew up hearing about his discoveries and it started a fascination with the stars and the night sky. I wanted to create this idea of a constellation of stars in the ear but in a very modern way.” Her latest collection is Le Mariage, inspired by a wedding ring she made for her best friend. Starting with the idea of the classic engagement ring, Sophie gave it her own twist. “They’re perfect for a bride and can also be worn effortlessly every day.” Her knack for translating her personality into avant-garde pieces drew the admiration of many discerning eyes who have become her loyal clients.
FAVOURITE CITY Venice because of its Bellinis, Murano glass, and the risotto.
