Greenery, Pantone’s colour of the year, will be seen in makeup, hair and nails. Anupama Bijur shows you how to incorporate the hue with panache
Greenery (#15-0343), a fresh and happy green yellow mix, is the colour of the year as forecast by Pantone, the most valued voice in colour projections. While greenery in our environment is easy to accept, including the green palette in makeup could stop us in our tracks. Even more so if it needs to be brought in as a haircolour. But since it’s the colour of the year, you will have no choice left but to yield to the demands of your clients who may want to give this colour a whirl. With so much talk of the environment and the world moving towards eco-friendly, climate sensitive, living, it isn't a surprise that this is reflecting in fashion too. The catwalks have already sent forth a burst of this colour in everything from jewellery to accessories to dresses. And unlike marsala and rose quartz, greenery might prove to be a bit tricky to include in an ensemble or makeup.
HAIR
Naina Gunjikar of High Gloss salon in Bengaluru, known for her bright and bold colour treatments for her clients, says she has already been asked by three clients in December 2016 about the green. “One client walked into my salon and wanted a forest theme painted on her hair, but subtly, so that her HR at work would not create a ruckus,” says Naina. With the use of the peaka-boo technique, Naina created a subtle pattern of tree top green and grass green with a streak of blue for a river.
