Yes, I did too, which is why I booked onto The Gut Retreat, a five-night wellbeing break led a few times a year by BSc-trained nutritional therapist and health writer Jeannette Hyde at Cugó Gran, Menorca’s only five-star Agroturismo hotel and a divine, uncluttered space in which to rejuvenate.

Friendly and totally approachable, Jeanette is on a mission to help us heal and restore our microbiomes – the 1.5kg of bacteria that we carry around in our gut. Our body’s most underrated organ and a kind of ‘second brain’, our gut flora has now been scientifically linked to our weight, our physical health and our emotional and mental wellbeing. Which means paying your gut some attention can help you get a handle on health issues such as poor sleep, a lack of energy, bad moods, immunity problems, anxiety, bad skin and IBS as well as weight loss.
