Midlife is having a moment and there is some great new reading, whether you want to know how your changing hormones are affecting your body, your mind or the way the world sees and treats you.
THE M WORD BY DR GINNI MANSBERG (MURDOCH, $36.99)
Ginni Mansberg is a media-friendly Australian GP and her book is all about thriving in menopause rather than surviving. It will tell you what is happening to your body during menopause and what your options are to treat symptoms if they get unpleasant. The style is friendly but no-nonsense, and it looks at where we’re at with hormone therapy right now as well as a variety of natural remedies and supplements. Ginni Mansberg isn’t opposed to the natural approach, but she does award some remedies with Gwyneths (as in Gwyneth Paltrow, she of the jade egg you’re meant to put in your vagina) for some of the wackier, more useless ones.
