‘Stop trying to ruin my marriage!’
Brendan Cole has spoken out to slam claims his marriage and career are on the rocks after being axed from the smash TV series Strictly Come Dancing.
The Christchurch-born professional ballroom and Latin star was left devastated earlier this year as he was suddenly fired after 15 years on the hit BBC show which, with its sister show Dancing with the Stars, is screened all around the world – of course, his sister Vanessa Cole is currently competing alongside cricketer Chris Harris in the New Zealand version.
Brendan (42) was hoping to re-join the dancing cast of the current Strictly series later this year in a bid to further his career and support his family, including his model wife Zoe Hobbs (38).
Since being ditched, the dancing star has faced a deluge of bad press in the UK over claims his career may be on the slide, as well as speculation that his marriage is in crisis after being spotted partying just hours after his wife gave birth to their baby boy Dante in March.
Brendan, once nicknamed “the bad boy of ballroom”, has also endured stories of him indulging in late-night drinking sessions, which took place after his recent solo shows.
But in a new interview, the star has spoken out in a bid to set the record straight and deny claims he is set to leave the UK to escape bad press.
