A Tv Role Lures Him Back Into the Spotlight
If you’re thinking that you haven’t seen much of George Clooney in the last few years, save for appearances at royal weddings and promotional events for coffee and tequila, you’d be right.
Hollywood’s most affable star has certainly taken a step away from the spotlight in recent years, preferring to stay at home with his 18-month-old twins Ella and Alexander, and his human rights lawyer wife Amal (41).
In fact, he’s been happily throwing said spotlight to his impressive wife, whose life achievements perhaps rank a little higher when it comes to doing good in the world.
Who could forget Tina Fey and Amy Poehler’s speech before giving George (57) his lifetime achievement award at the 2015 Golden Globes – “[Amal] is a human rights lawyer who worked on the Enron case; an advisor to Kofi Annan on Syria; and was appointed to a three-person commission investigating rules of war violations in the Gaza Strip. So tonight, her husband is getting a lifetime achievement award.”
Last year, the star admitted that starring in films just wasn’t cutting the mustard, saying, “I’m 56. I’m not the guy who gets the girl anymore... I shouldn’t be the guy who gets the girl anymore. Acting used to be how I paid the rent, but I sold a tequila company for a billion dollars. I don’t need money.”
