For Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, turning 40 is more than a milestone birthday. It’s time to kickstart a new era of her life and set her sights on a career in politics. And that could mean aiming as high as becoming the President of the United States.
Meghan, who celebrated her 40th birthday last week, has been able to tick lots of items off her “to-do” list, including becoming a successful actress, supporting causes she’s passionate about, marrying the man of her dreams and having two children.
Now she can embark on the next stage of her plan to live an extraordinary life, say sources close to the mum of Archie, two, and Lilibet, two months.
“She has her eyes set on the US presidency,” says her biographer Omid Scobie. “Meghan is the embodiment of the American dream. One day we may see Meghan become president.”
The former Suits star has been keen to make a difference since childhood. At just 11, she campaigned against an advertisement for dishwashing liquid that was aimed solely at women. As a result, the soap company changed the slogan from “Women all over America” to “People all over America”.
She used the fame she found as an actress to support an organisation that encouraged young people to take leadership roles, and also served as a UN advocate for women’s political participation and leadership.
