To Have & To Hold Eugenie's Little ‘Prince'

In an era that has been marred by bad news, the Yorks could not be happier to welcome their newest addition to the fold, a baby son to Princess Eugenie and her husband Jack Brooksbank.

The royal birth has been highly anticipated since the couple announced last September that they were expecting their first child, and has come as a welcome distraction following Prince Andrew’s fall from grace due to his alleged involvement in the Jeffrey Epstein scandal, and in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic.

The wee York was born on February 9 at Portland Hospital in London – the same hospital his mother was born at – and the happy news was announced by the Queen, who said that she and the family were “delighted”.

“Her Royal Highness Princess Eugenie was safely delivered of a son today, February 9, 2021, at 0855hrs at The Portland Hospital. Jack Brooksbank was present. The baby weighs 8lbs 1oz,” the official statement from the palace read. “The Queen, the Duke of Edinburgh, the Duke of York, Sarah, Duchess of York, and Mr and Mrs George Brooksbank have been informed and are delighted with the news.”

The date will be especially poignant for the monarch, as it marks the anniversary of Princess Margaret’s death in 2002. Like Princesses Eugenie and Beatrice, the royal sisters were close.

And while royalists have noted that Beatrice, 32, wasn’t mentioned in the palace statement, it could be safely assumed that she would have been among the first to have been told. Beatrice was, after all, the maid of honour when Eugenie, 30, married Jack in October 2018.
