Where are they now? '90s SUPERMODEL ROLL CALL

The sensational seven are still turning heads – but not all for the right reasons!
Where are they now? '90s SUPERMODEL ROLL CALL

They pranced down the catwalks of New York, Paris and Milan like they owned the world – and perhaps they did! Back in the 1990s, a whole new breed of model was born – the Supermodel. These long, lean, gazelle-like beauties became celebrities in their own right, hosting TV shows, owning restaurants, appearing in music videos and raking in millions of dollars in advertising endorsements alone. Decades later, the spectacular seven – Linda Evangelista, Claudia Schiffer, Naomi Campbell, Kate Moss, Cindy Crawford, Christy Turlington and Helena Christensen – are still household names. Some of them are now even parents to children who are supermodels themselves. We take a walk down memory lane and also find out where our favourite fashionistas are at now.

CHRISTY TURLINGTON

California-born Christy was just 14 years old when she was spotted by a talent scout while riding a horse. The rest is history! Casting agent James Scully once described her as “the greatest model of all time”, adding, “You could combine every model to this day into one person and they wouldn’t come close.” The now 53-year-old is still featured in campaigns for the likes of Maybelline and Calvin Klein. Four years ago, she spoke candidly about how the fashion world is “surrounded by predators” and that she feared, in hindsight, that she may have unwittingly played a “honey pot” role in which her presence lulled younger women into a false sense of security.

After working for every big name in fashion throughout the ’90s, she changed direction and went to university to study comparative religion and Eastern philosophy. In 2003, she married actor Edward Burns, 53, and the pair share two kids, Grace, 18 and Finn, 15.
