COME ON IN!
ABOUT ME I’m Rachel Nogueira, an architect (andarchitects.co.uk) and I live here with my husband Manuel, an architect, and our twin sons, Victor and William, 13.
OUR HOME A four-bed, 400-year old detached cottage in Cornwall. We bought the property in 2007.
WHEN WE MOVED IN We had to save up before we could afford to begin refurbishing, so we painted the walls and lived in it as it was.
AND NOW In 2012, we gained planning permission to begin the renovations. We worked with local builders and craftsmen to create a stylish family home.
STYLE TIP Live in your home for a while before renovating. We knew exactly what we wanted by the time the work began.
Inspired by happy memories of childhood holidays, Rachel chose a glamorous, coastal scheme for her home
Summers were spent camping on the beach in Cornwall when I was a student. I would gaze longingly at the beautiful houses dottedalong the coastline, thinking to myself, “one day…”,’ says Rachel.
‘When our twin boys came along, I wanted them to experience the same happy childhood I’d had, so my husband and I began looking for a place by the sea.
