1 Hang rustic baskets on the wall
Swap pictures for a more tactile display and hang pretty woven baskets above a sofa or bed. Position off-centre, at staggered heights – odd numbers work better than even.
2 UPGRADE PLAIN POTS WITH A DAB OF PAINT
Brighten up a couple of terracotta pots by painting on a simple line motif using exterior paint. Apply freehand or use tape to give a straight edge.
3 Paint an alpine wall scene in a kid’s room
Jolly up a child’s bedroom by creating a mountain vista. It’s easier to do than it looks – just mask up triangular shapes on the wall, each topped with a sprinkling of snow.
4 CHOOSE EASY-CARE BLINDS FOR A KITCHEN
Heavy curtains and blinds aren’t a practical choice for busy kitchens with steamy conditions and cooking smells. This chic range has a moisture-resistant finish and comes in a range of patterns including this super-pretty floral.
5 Paint an arch to create a focal point
If you have a room that is lacking any architectural details, fake it by creating your own. Use a dark colour to paint an arch shape on a paler wall – at a quick glance it looks like an arched alcove.
