Susie Kearley finds out that one person’s trash is another’s treasure . . .
7 Ways To Reduce Waste
1 Think before you buy. Many purchases aren’t essential.
2 Resist the urge to upgrade to the latest model, and use goods for as long as they last. Visit www.ukwhitegoods.co.uk to find out which products can be repaired more easily.
3 Buy second hand. It’s better for the environment and better for your pocket.
4 Choose LED light bulbs when your bulbs need replacing. They cost a little more to buy, but use less electricity and last for years.
5 Only buy enough fresh food for a few days; finish what’s in the fridge before buying more.
6 Take bags when you go shopping and avoid collecting new plastic bags.
7 Visit your library to borrow books, films and music rather than buying them.
