‘She's still got her CHEEKY SPARK'
When Dame Barbara Windsor’s husband Scott Mitchell revealed that she is battling Alzheimer’s disease, fans of the iconic actor were left heartbroken.

Barbara, 82, has been entertaining the nation for more than 60 years but is arguably best known as feisty Peggy Mitchell in EastEnders. Scott made the revelation in 2018 and at the time confessed Barbara had been diagnosed four years earlier – despite this, together they’ve since been campaigning for better dementia care in the UK. Last year they met with PM Boris Johnson to deliver a letter on behalf of the Alzheimer’s Society, during which Barbara cheekily told him, ‘Give me a kiss and better dementia care! But, although her f personality is still able to shine through occasionally, close friend Rita Simons, who played Peggy’s piece Roxy Slater in the BBC1 soap, has spoken about Barbara’s progress, confessing, she‘s not doing great.’
