On the list of people you want by your side throughout pregnancy, I’m guessing your partner, and maybe mum, might be top. But this is what 2020 has given us – mums-to-be have had to endure the excitement – and potential heartache – of scans alone, and while their partner can be present during active labour and birth, women then have to recover on the postnatal ward alone.
