In the past four years, Prince Harry has only just begun processing the tragic 1997 passing of his mother, Princess Diana, thanks in no small part to groundbreaking therapy and the encouragement of his wife.
But just as he gathered the courage to tell the world about his pain on his new mental health docuseries The Me You Can’t See, Diana’s youngest son’s world came crashing down again when it was revealed that BBC journalist Martin Bashir had deceived his mother into giving her bombshell 1995 Panorama interview. In the infamous chat, she described her marriage to Prince Charles as “a bit crowded”, thanks to his affair with Camilla Parker Bowles.
“Harry obviously had deep suspicions about that interview, but to have it spelled out in black and white that a journalist had conned his mum into revealing her most private thoughts was incredibly triggering for him,” says a source.
“Harry is seething – and not even [his wife, Duchess] Meghan can reach him when he’s in his head about his mum like this.”
FEELING ‘HELPLESS’
In a searing statement following an inquiry by former British judge and barrister Lord Dyson, Harry, 36, blamed Martin for Diana’s death in a Paris tunnel, where her drunk driver crashed while in a high-speed pursuit involving photographers.
