Her Majesty celebrates a lifetime of love.
For 70 years, the Queen and Prince Philip have stood by each other with unwavering loyalty, smiling together in the triumphant times, and supporting one another during their trials and tribulations. But last week, it was a time for celebration as their loved ones gathered to honour their amazing milestone.
A Woman’s Day royal insider says the platinum wedding celebration dinner at Windsor Castle – which was attended by the royal couple, their four children, eight grandchildren and a handful of closest friends – was an evening of “joy, love and the sharing of many wonderful memories”.
“It was a truly magical evening,” tells our insider. “The Queen and the duke were at each other’s sides the entire time and just didn’t stop smiling. The whole evening felt incredibly special.”
The Queen and her husband – who wed at Westminster Abbey on November 20, 1947 – were keen to celebrate quietly, with an “elegant and intimate” black-tie dinner party. Our source reveals that as well as heart-warming speeches, it included a 30-minute slideshow of 500 images from their married life projected on to a wall and set to music.
