The royals’ getaways are landing them in hot water
Being royal certainly has its perks and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been living their best lives with luxury breaks in Ibiza and Nice – although it came at a pretty price!
The new parents, who pride themselves as ecowarriors, started a media firestorm after taking gas-guzzling, carbon-emitting private jets to both of their ultra-exclusive summer holiday spots in the Mediterranean.
But a source close to the couple says there was a secret reason – other than just sheer extravagance – behind the royal couple’s luxurious summer holidays. It was a loved-up babymoon!
“Meghan wanted to use the time away to start preparing herself for another baby,” claims an insider. “And given the pressure she’s been under for more than a year now, she was desperate to get her stress levels down and have as much rest and relaxation as possible.”
On August 6 – two days after his wife’s 38th birthday – Prince Harry, 34, whisked Meghan and their three-month-old son Archie to the Spanish island of Ibiza for a lavish and oh-so-hush-hush family vacation.
The doting duke pulled out all the stops, renting a secluded beachfront villa inside a gated community that set him back $280,000 for six nights – and that was before forking out for staff, including two private chefs, two butlers, a house manager, several maids and security.
“They spent most of their days relaxing by the pool and on their private beach,” dishes the source. “It was the first time they’d had a beachside break with Archie and carrying him into the sea for the first time was an incredibly special experience for them.
“Meghan grew up in California and adored swimming as a child. Seeing Archie splashing the water with his arms and legs was a real high point.”
