Amid father issues, she finds comfort in a friend
Sitting side-by-side at Wimbledon last week, the Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry’s new wife provided a double treat for tennis lovers.
It’s the first time sistersin-law Kate and Meghan have made an appearance together without their husbands, and they made the most of it – giggling and chatting like they’ve known each other their whole lives.
It’s no secret the duchesses have been firm friends since Harry first introduced them two years ago. And as the courtside smiles faded to anguish the next day – when Meghan’s father once again publicly lashed out at his daughter and the royal family – it was Kate, 36, who was there to mop up the tears. “Kate’s been Meghan’s rock since all the issues with her family began,” a well-placed palace insider tells us.
Still on a high from her official visit to Ireland with Harry, 33, the new duchess was blindsided when her dad Thomas Markle, 74, took aim in a newspaper interview, claiming the former Suits actress has adopted a “smile of pain” to cope with the stresses of royal life.
