Just days after seemingly snubbing each other at an official celebration for Prince Charles, the feuding Duchesses of Cambridge and Sussex put on a very different display at Westminster Abbey last week.

Surprising onlookers with their apparent warmth, Kate was seen greeting her sister-in-law Meghan with a kiss and a smile as they arrived with other senior royals for a Commonwealth Day church service.

It’s the first time they’ve been seen interacting cordially with each other since December and a royal insider tells Woman’s Day that the “uneasy truce” comes after an intervention staged by their father-in-law Charles.

“It became clear that the situation was spiralling, so with the Queen’s backing, Charles ordered the women to sit down with him at his private offices in Clarence House and hammer out a peace agreement,” claims our insider. “He told them that their behaviour was reflecting badly on the monarchy and it would no longer be tolerated.”

Charles is said to have been incensed that the focus of the reception to mark his 50 years as the Prince of Wales was marred by Kate and Meghan, whose frosty display dominated headlines.
