She’s loving life Moore than ever!
Mandy Moore is big on gratitude – and she has a lot to be grateful for.
Just a few short years ago, she was “curled up in a ball on the floor”, her marriage to musician Ryan Adams in tatters, her career at an all-time low and with no end to the darkness in sight.
Fast-forward to 2018 and it’s like someone finally switched the lights on. “You couldn’t pay me to go back,” the 33-year-old actress confides. And who can blame her?
These days, the former ’90s pop princess is receiving rave reviews for her leading role as mother-of-three Rebecca Pearson on the drama This is Us, which took out the Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble prize at the SAG Awards last week.
Meanwhile, on the home front, she recently announced her engagement to her love of two years, rocker Taylor Goldsmith, and is making loud noises about starting a family. It’s a dramatic turnaround, but by no means the first metamorphosis in Mandy’s life.
All blonde hair and shiny lips, she burst on to the music scene as a 15-year-old in 1999 with her debut single “Candy”. For the next four years, the star cranked out a string of saccharine pop tunes before adopting a more sensual persona as she matured into her 20s.
She had her pick of guys and dated the likes of tennis ace Andy Roddick and Scrubs comedian Zach Braff, before falling head over heels for country-rock wild child Ryan, 43. Mandy was 10 years younger than the “New York, New York” singer, but they quietly tied the knot in March 2009.
