After months of search, Shreya had finally found a baby-sitter for her two-year-old. But she had a concern. “My nanny has a low-end phone. I am not sure what I should do,” she rued. On further prodding, she added, “Well, my daughter eats food only with videos on.”

Food and entertainment are frequent bed partners. Binge-watching while eating - it’s a guilt that’s tainted many. However, it can get worrisome when entertainment is the only way food goes down a child’s mouth.

The World Health Organization’s guidelines have recommended no screen time for kids up to the age of two. This recommendation has come in the wake of the growing obesity crisis among kids due to sedentary lifestyle. However, with a household having multiple digital devices, including mobile phones, laptops, tablets and reading devices, keeping kids away from them is tough.

Yet, it’s a pill that must be taken, not just to avoid obesity but for better sleep, eyesight and general health. Here are some tips to help refrain kids from this guilty pleasure.
