How To Feel Good On A Bad Day

Life can be full of disappointments. An argument with your teen kids over breakfast, missing the train, or even spilling the coffee can make you wish you could crawl back in bed.

It's one of those days, when nothing goes right, you tell yourself gloomily, feeling tired, depressed, and resentful and as if the whole world is against you. Behaviour psychologists, however, have an explanation for it.

The entire morning routine seems to go haywire, they say, because you haven't had time for yourself. They call that period the 'me time'.

Every woman needs a few precious moments to herself as soon as she wakes up - a time during which she does something that brings peace and clarity to her mind.

Perhaps, that is what the great saint, Swami Vivekananda meant when he said, "Arise and awake!" For, awakening to yourself is extremely important as it synchronises your mental clock to the minutes and hours ticking away during the day.

Even if you are extremely busy, you can have your 'me-time' by awakening 15 minutes earlier.

Performing those little acts are vital for your wellbeing because they are familiar habits you have developed over the years to prepare you for the unfamiliar surprises that may lie in store for you during the course of the day.

And because these acts are unique to you, they have a soothing effect on your mind.

These little acts can be anything - listening to music, laying out your salwar suit and accessories or having a bath. However innocuous they appear, they are required by you as they are your self-zones where you are comfortable and not playing a role the role of wife, mother, colleague, whatever.
