Why Not?
Hiring an interior designer to do up your house is not everyone’s cup of tea. Budget is of course a major deciding criterion but there could be other factors like space, clash of ideas between you and your designer, your ability to explain the exact style and aesthetics that you are looking for, time frame, etc. Instead of dampening your spirit, why not turn your house into a beautiful and stylish home, that too all by yourself! The concept of DIY – i.e. ‘Do It Yourself’ is here to help you out. Let’s see how…
Whether you own a big house or a small studio apartment or a rented place, the form of the house never matters as much as what goes inside – because that’s what transforms any space into a home. Making a home doesn’t require expensive furniture or colour-coded array of decorations. It’s the people and special things that add a special touch to it.
Rugs and carpet
Remember how empty the spacefeels after you’ve removed your furniture and other belongings. Without anything to absorb sound, steps echo and can make a space feel emptier than you’d like. One of the first things anyone can do to make a house feel more like a home is find a way to introduce textiles according to one’s taste.
DIY Ideas –
Most easily you could lay down the carpet gifted to you by your friends or relatives.
Another idea is to stitch together salvaged remnants of the rag-rug of your grandparents that you found in the trunk. A story can run in the family!
