In the noughties, the full-on facelift popped up at dinner parties as frequently as Carrie Bradshaw’s Cosmopolitans. No longer just a favourite with celebrities, over six thousand regular civilians were putting themselves under the knife every year.
But by 2016, facelifts were fast going out of fashion, dropping by 53%* yearly, with Brits opting for cheaper, less invasive treatments. It’s no surprise as a full face and neck lift can cost £10k and need weeks to recover from.
‘Surgical facelifts carry the responsibility of extended operative times and a six-week recovery period,’ explains London Aesthetic Surgeon, Dr Raj Ragoowansi. ‘These have now been replaced with minimally invasive techniques that help restore tone and youthful vigour, without needing extended healing times and scars.’
