The 2024 BreyerFest is a particularly special one, as this year’s theme, “Against All Odds,” celebrates horse-and-rider teams that have overcome incredible obstacles to make their dreams come true. From rescue horses turned show-ring winners to a mule with jumping hops, they prove that with determination, anything is possible.
This year’s BreyerFest is taking place both live and virtually from July 12-14, 2024, at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, Ky., and virtually at breyerhorses.com.
CELEBRATION HORSE & PORTRAIT MODELS
The 2024 Celebration Horse is Athenian Lady, a pinto mare that was discovered neglected and abused by a horse rescue where Amanda Delgado was volunteering in 2015. Amanda saw something special in the mare and decided to adopt her.
The two of them overcame great odds to become a four-time Western Dressage Association of America (WDAA) World Champion, five-time International Champion at the WDAA International Challenge, and multiple title winners at the 2019 Pinto World Championship Show.
This year's Limited Edition Portrait Horses have all overcome great obstacles as well. Always Chipper is a black and white pinto pony that was rescued from an auction pen. He's gone on to be a multi-champion at hunter shows, taking many kids into the winner's circle under the loving guidance of his owners Alpine and Sue Griffin.
Alan A Days Work is an equine of a different type. A mule with the hops for high-level jumping, Alan and his owner/rider Whitney Barnard have reached new heights by advocating with the United States Hunter Jumper Association and the United States Equestrian Federation (USEF) to allow mules to compete in all levels of jumper competition. In 2020, both organizations made a rule change that allowed Alan and Whitney to fulfill their dream.
