Modern kitchens are evolving into multifunctional spaces that blend seamlessly with living areas. Experts weigh in.
NEW VISTAS
Open layouts are increasingly popular, creating a cohesive flow between cooking and socialising zones. “Smart appliances, such as integrated hob and hood, voice command chimneys and built-in ovens with intuitive controls, are becoming essential for efficiency and convenience. Multi-functional workstation sinks with helpful accessories and glass rinsers are gaining traction. Minimalist aesthetics with clean lines and concealed appliances is driving kitchen design, while a balance of luxury and functionality remains a priority,” says Chirag Parekh, Chairman & Managing Director, Carysil Group.
Lighting is another critical element, with cabinet lights now considered essential globally rather than an accessory. These lights not only enhance functionality but also contribute to the kitchen’s overall ambience. Darshana Kamdar, Business Head – Retail, Makwana Modular Kulture, adds, “The trend of vintage design is back in style. Contemporary style is always in trend but today architects and clients are again inclined towards the Gorgonian style. An Eco-friendly water-based PU finish is trending. Long shutter for wall cabinets touching the ceiling is the new design option as compared to wall and loft cabinets designed separately.”
