Bhoomija’s beloved annual music festival for and by children, Jackfruit is possibly one of India’s biggest musical events for young audiences. Placed at the intersection of fun and music education, the unique music festival is not only a celebration of Indian music but also a showcase of young talent through stunning ensemble performances, mentored and conducted by renowned maestros. The festival introduces children to the arts and allows them to explore their creativity.
The festival’s first edition, which was held in 2014, was a huge success. This year, its fifth edition was held in Bengaluru from September 12-17, 2023, in association with the Indian Music Experience Museum, helmed by musical powerhouse Shubha Mudgal. The maestro, as Festival Director, presented to audiences a superb line-up including two stunning flagship showcase concerts featuring young performers, below the age of 17, from across the country.
“My focus for this edition of Jackfruit has been on presenting young artistes who are deeply committed to traditional music. However, beatboxing, DJ workshops, body percussion, raagdari music and instrumental music have all been included in the diverse fare on offer at the festival,” said Mudgal.
