In the fast paced metropolis of Mumbai, the towering skyscrapers and bustling streets made for a perfect backdrop to the India Rubber Expo 2024 (IRE 2024). Hosted by the All India Rubber Industries Association (AIRIA), this biennial spectacle aimed to reshape the rubber industry's landscape, both at home and abroad write Aditya Sharma and Upendra Kasbekar.

INDIA RUBBER EXPO 2024: THE RUBBER INDUSTRY LANDSCAPE

Renowned as the premier rubber exposition in Asia, the IRE 2024 is eagerly anticipated within the industry. Taking place over three dynamic days from March 21,23 2024, the expo was held at the Bombay Exhibition Center, Nesco, in Mumbai, India. This year commemorates the 11th edition of the expo, characterized by a notable expansion in exhibition expanse. With an impressive 30,000 sq. m. allocated to over 350 exhibitor booths - a significant increase from the previous 14,000 sq. m. layout featuring over 48 sponsors, 15 speakers, and 500 delegates. IRE 2024 establishes a new benchmark for scale and ambition. Chief guest Rahul Narvekar, the Speaker of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly in his inaugural address to the August gathering, underscored the significance of unity and collaborative endeavours among all members of AIRIA, urging them to unite their efforts towards shared objectives.

Shashi Kumar Singh, President of AIRIA, highlighted the crucial role of IRE as a driving force for the positive transformation and advancement of the rubber industry. Recognizing the notable strides in the natural rubber sector and the government's ambition to drive the industry's expansion, he urged the stakeholders for uniting in the quest for excellence and innovation.

As the President of the AIRIA, Singh underscored the IRE 2024 as the foremost event in the country's rubber industry. The expo provided a dynamic and inclusive platform tailored to address the diverse needs and interests of all industry stakeholders. Apart from facilitating business and trade, the expo promoted knowledge sharing, collaboration, and partnerships. With its comprehensive lineup of exhibitions, seminars, workshops, and networking opportunities, the event ensured thorough coverage of all facets of the rubber industry.
