Making a difference

Q. Saint-Gobain entered India in 1996. Tell us about the story behind its inception in India, and the journey so far for the Sekurit business?

A. We have been making glasses for vehicles since almost 95 years. Since vehicles evolved in the earlier part of the last century, Saint Gobain got involved in the manufacturing of glass. Sekurit business was set up in India in Chakan first. Eventually, in 2005, we developed plants in Chennai and Bhiwadi, Rajasthan. The Pune plant focuses on commercial vehicles, three-wheelers and mini buses. The Chennai and Bhiwadi plant focus on passenger and utility vehicles. We have service centres catering to almost all OEMs in the country as well as the aftermarket.

Q. What according to you were the milestones and the turning points in the India growth story?
