There is something special about an old-school SUV! A fearless design, boxy and yet so evocative. Just wonderful! This is the category which the Mercedes-Benz G-Class falls into and thank God that the company has not changed the ethos of the G in nearly 40 years of its existence. Enter the new MercedesBenz G400d Adventure Edition.
The new G400d then continues to feature a design that dates back to its origins. The massive grille sits up front prominently displaying the three-pointed star. The headlamps are still round and sit within shrouds just like the original. However, it now features the latest lighting technology in the form of LEDs and even integrates a DRL functionality. The winkers which have always been a G-Class signature, still sit atop the fender.
Not only does it look cool but also serves as a marker for the driver. In profile, the massiveness of the G-Class is more evident. The massive 18in alloys fill up the wheel arches well and then there is the ground clearance which at 241mm is all set to tackle the worst of terrains. At the back, the G-Class continues to impress with its side-hinged door, external spare tyre and tail lights set on the bumpers. Adding to its appearance is the kit you get with this Adventure Edition. The functional roof rack, ladder and spare wheel cover all add to the toughness of the G-class. But it is not just about being a brute. This version of the G-Class also has finesse which comes in the form of the logo projectors and door handles with embossed logos.
