MG Motor India has officially announced its joint venture with the JSW Group. The JV, which is called JSW MG Motor India, will primarily focus on bringing new energy vehicles to India. It will concentrate on creating a robust EV ecosystem, as it plans to introduce a number of electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids in India. Sajjan Jindal, Chairman of the JSW Group, stated that post September 2024, the company will introduce new models every 3-6 months. In fact, two of them are set to arrive within this year.
These models will have a high level of localisation and will be manufactured in India. To cater to this, the company plans to expand its production capacity in Halol, Gujarat. The hope is to increase production capacity to 3 lakh units annually. Currently, the capacity sits just above the 1 lakh units per annum mark.
