Due over the next few years, they will get "kick-ass" designs to attract a wider customer base to the brand, design boss Pierre Leclercq told Autocar.

Starting with the upcoming C3 supermini, they are likely to share cues with the Oli concept, he announced.

Pricing of around £25,000 is expected, given that Leclercq confirmed these EVs would have a "huge advantage" in their classes.

Popular contenders today include the £27k MG 4 EV, £28k Fiat 500 and £32k Vauxhall Corsa Electric.

"As premium brands look to become more premium, [there are still] some people who don't have that kind of money to buy a car," said Leclercq.
