In this essay, Brijmohan Lall Munjal's life and accomplishments are examined, emphasising his contributions to the automotive sector and his long impact.
Munjal had a modest upbringing. He was born on July 1st, 1923, in Kamalia, Punjab (now in Pakistan). He had an entrepreneurial drive early on and started a bicycle replacement parts company in Amritsar, where he first entered the business world. He had no idea this humble beginning would become the cornerstone of a commercial empire that would revolutionise the Indian auto industry.
In 1956, Munjal and his brothers established Hero Cycles. The business prospered under his competent direction, quickly growing to become India's largest bicycle maker. But Munjal's aspirations didn't end there. He understood the importance of accessible, effective transportation, particularly in rural areas. His foray into the motorbike industry due to this ambition gave rise to Hero MotoCorp.
