FOLLOWING THE DEATH OF THE AMERICAN RALLY driver, Ken Block, 55, in a snowmobile accident, the motor sport community paid tribute to the courageous stuntman who became an Internet phenomenon.
The late Block gained notoriety through “Hoonigan” for filming exhilarating and perilous YouTube stunt movies that he called "Gymkhanas" in locations such as Los Angeles, Dubai, on a mountain in China, and at an autodrome just outside Paris. "Gymkhanas" are traditionally equestrian competitions that evaluate a horse and rider's ability to manoeuvre through a series of obstacles; in more recent years, they have been transformed into racing competitions that measure a driver's skill and speed.
Block was a founding partner of the skateboarding apparel company, DC Shoes. Another apparel business he owned, Hoonigan Industries, posted a message on Instagram confirming the death of its founder.
