JAPAN WAS THE FINAL SHOWDOWN FOR the World Rally Championship (WRC). Welsh driver Elfyn Evans clinched his eighth career victory at Toyota's home race by finishing a dominant 1'17.7 seconds ahead of teammate Sébastien Ogier, confirming his place as the runner-up driver in the 2023 FIA WRC for the third time.
Evans put in the work leading up to the win early on in the asphalt when he drove to an almost two-minute advantage on Friday's rain-soaked opening. From then onwards, he was in control of the Rally by constantly adapting his risk level to suit the changing conditions.
