For anything related to car culture and modding, many people including myself, got their first taste of it with the legendary Need For Speed video game franchise or more accurately, the Underground series. Of course, the Fast and Furious franchise and the Initial D anime also come to mind when it comes to a petrolhead's childhood escapades. So when I got to know that Pune played host to Underground 6 in June 2022, it was a golden chance to tick off a major item on my life's bucket list, which is to check out a real-life car meet. Unfortunately, since it was an invite-only event, I missed it.
Thankfully it didn't take long for the latest edition to show up and it was time to meet like-minded individuals and check out insane rides in an evening of all things automotive.
As before, the Underground 007 entries were invitation only and the location was quite secretive.
Only this time, it wasn't the Pune Kartdrome circuit, instead it was in an underground parking lot, going back to the basics and literally capturing the essence of an underground car and bike meet.
Headed by Jeet Tapaswi of Tapaswi Racing, the basic essence of such an event was to have automobile enthusiasts meet under one roof (or underground in this case) and celebrate all the cool reasons we love this culture. Despite it not being in an open ground this time, it didn't hamper celebrations one bit with quite a lot of eye candy for rides which included JDM icons, rare gems, sleepers, exotics, supercars as well as cool modded machines.
