And there was the sadness of losing a loved one. And disappointment too that like Rishabh Pant a few weeks ago, she had missed out on a hundred. The lady everyone referred to as grandma, ‘the Paati ready to party’ was no more, and all we were left with were memories of the good times.
My favourite memory was of a treasure she kept with her at all times. It was a little candy tin box filled with colourful, fruit-flavoured candies. Sometimes they would be fancy candies picked up from one of her trips abroad. And most other times it would be those wrapper-less orange candies you could get for a few paise at the neighbourhood grocery store.
It didn’t make a difference. To her. Or to anyone else.
