The Lakota believe the birth of a white buffalo calf with a black nose, eyes and hooves is as remarkable as the return of Jesus, according to Chief Arvol Looking Horse, spiritual leader of the Lakota, Dakota and the Nakota Oyate in South Dakota - adding that its arrival signifies our planet is in grave danger!
"The birth of this calf is both a blessing and warning," he says. "We must do more!"
The last time a white buffalo calf was spotted in Yellowstone was in 1994, and many Native Americans believe it is a sign of a troubled world.
