Dressed in a grey morning suit and top hat, His Majesty beamed with delight, with the Queen, wearing a cream embroidered coat and dress by Dior and a matching hat by Philip Treacy, sitting beside him.
FAMILY TIME
Later in the week, they were joined by the Prince and Princess of Wales, the latest in a succession of family members and close friends to support them during the five-day event, which is a highlight of the royal summer calendar.
Prince William and Kate, who was a picture of chic elegance in a red Alexander McQueen dress, matching Philip Treacy hat, Jennifer Chamandi suede pumps and Sézane earrings, received a huge cheer from the crowd as they made their entrance on Friday in an open-top carriage directly behind the King and Queen’s.
Accompanied by Princess Beatrice and her husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, William and Kate smiled and waved before mingling with trainers and jockeys in the parade ring, returning there later to present the Commonwealth Cup, which was won by jockey Oisin Murphy and his mount Shaquille.
Beatrice, who had attended earlier in the week, chose a lace Monique Lhuillier dress and a white hat by JBH Millinery for her Ladies’ Day appearance.
ROYAL GUESTS
There was no shortage of company for Their Majesties as they made their daily entrance in the 2pm carriage procession before heading to the Royal Box to watch the action.
