MAKING HER DEBUT AS A LEADING LADY F.K.A. TWIGS ON THE MAKING OF HER NEW MOVIE AND BELIEVING IN TRUE LOVE

From a read of its dark synopsis, The Crow vengeance and violence. But for its leading lady - singer, dancer and actress Tahliah Barnett, better known by her stage name FKA Twigs - it is centred on something that unites us all: love.

"Aside from anything else, The Crow is really a beautiful love story about two lost souls who find each other and really grow from that experience," the 36-year-old says.

The film, directed by Rupert Sanders, sees Shelly, played by Tahliah, and Eric, played by Swedish actor Bill Skarsgard, as lovers who are brutally murdered the night before their wedding. Eric rises from the grave, assuming the supernatural mantle of The Crow, who seeks to avenge his and Shelly's fateful end.

The themes of love and passion are something to which the actress could relate. "Shelly and Eric literally go to the depths of hell to save each other. I think we all want to believe in love and that you could meet somebody that will listen, be tender, care and be attentive."

The Measure of a Man singer has previously been in high-profile relationships with The 1975 frontman Matty Healy, actor Robert Pattinson to whom she was engaged and actor Shia LaBeouf. Their relationship ended in a law suit that is still to be resolved.
