Impossibly chic with a penchant for relaxed tailoring, This Morning presenter Lisa Snowdon knows a thing or two about style. Now, as she announces her new ambassadorship with Friends of Wallis at Debenhams, bringing her edits of her favourite pieces, the 51-year-old advocate for female empowerment talks to HELLO! about confidence, dressing for summer in the city and her tips for building the ultimate capsule wardrobe.
Lisa, you're a big believer in the power of fashion when it comes to confidence...
"I believe fashion can change how you feel and this shows when I do my segments on This Morning with our beautiful models, who are our viewers. You can see the energy change just by putting them in a fantastic dress, the right underwear, make-up and a heel.
"I'm a big believer in not getting too caught up in trends and also stepping out of your comfort zone. It's great to get people to try things on that they might not have gone for, adding a pop of colour or great little shoulder pads in a nice tailored jacket - it really changes your attitude."
What do you wear when you want to feel your most confident?
"I do love a bit of power dressing, so a suit for me. And depending on the event, if I can do trainers or a nice strappy sandal and a T-shirt where you've still got that cool tailoring, it looks smart but casual. If you want to add a shirt and a heel, it's power dressing; it's confident; you look effortlessly put-together and I just love that silhouette. Equally, jeans with a bit of tailoring are so chic."
What is it about tailored pieces that you like so much?
"I love a strong shoulder pad - it gives you such a good silhouette. They're really good for proportion, and even a little bit of soft padding in the shoulder can be really elegant.
