Which is fitting, given the bride is not only a director and digital artist, but also part of the famous Fiennes family, which includes her two actor brothers, Ralph and Joseph.
Many members of the clan were among the 240 guests celebrating the marriage of Martha, 59, to Simon Finch, 67, at Voewood House, the groom’s four-storey, grade II*-listed 33-room home on the North Norfolk coast and one of the country’s finest Arts and Crafts houses.
DREAM DRESS
This was Martha’s first time as a bride and she marked the occasion with an exquisite wedding dress. Designed by Elizabeth Emanuel, the gown featured an off-the-shoulder bodice fitted over a skirt of grey pearl damask with layers of tinted tulle. Handmade flowers and leaves decorated the shoulders and there was also a full-length veil. “It is a unique gown and unlike anything I have created before because it was created specially for Martha, taking into account her great beauty and free spirit,” said Elizabeth, who is best known for designing the dress worn by Lady Diana Spencer for her 1981 marriage to the Prince of Wales.
In keeping with tradition, Simon, who sells rare books and whose clients have included Sir Mick Jagger and Madonna, had not seen the dress before Martha arrived at the picturesque church in Cley next the Sea where the ceremony took place.
“The dress was staggering. Martha is gorgeous, as well as a beautiful soul,” he says of his wife, whose films include 1999’s Onegin, starring Ralph.
