Nestled in the peaceful and green environs of the farmhouses of South Delhi is the stately home of Devyani Jaipuria. Walking through its impressive colonnaded courtyard, past a classy study and an invitingly cosy living room, we settle in for a chat in her charming veranda, replete with tasteful European light fixtures, homely cane furniture and a delicious tea spread. Presiding over this lovely scene is our charismatic hostess. She is completely in her element in a striking red ensemble by Isha J of Rose Room, whose designs resonate deeply with her personal aesthetic.

LEGACY OF LEARNING

Devyani dons many hats. She is a passionate educationist, a dedicated philanthropist, a keen entrepreneur and an involved wife, mother and daughter. And she wouldn’t have it any other way. In her own words, “I believe in the fundamental principles of integrity, education and philanthropy as vital components for the well-being of any community.”

Her journey in the field of education was initiated 22 years ago when her mother, Dhara Jaipuria, opened the Delhi Public School (DPS) Sector 45 (Gurgaon), in collaboration with the original school of the same name. “My mother played a pivotal role in the entire process. I witnessed her dedication while overseeing construction, hiring staff (including teachers, headmistress, vice principal and principal) and eventually taking on the leadership role at the school. She was also the foundational force behind DPS Jaipur and our playschool, Modern Montessori International. My connection with education began by observing and actively participating in my mother’s efforts to establish and lead these educational institutions.”
