Pete Wicks is used to making headlines with rumours about his love life, but in our exclusive chat, the former TOWIE star shares what he really thinks about love and marriage. He opens up on looking for a long-term partner, why his friends don’t set him up with dates, and filming his new “break-up” campaign with Sky Mobile.
Following his and close pal Sam Thompson’s sellout Staying Relevant live podcast tour, 35-year-old Pete is now back home with his two dogs Eric and Peggy. And he says he’s living his best life in his “weird little threesome” with Sam and Sam’s girlfriend Zara McDermott…
Hi, Pete! Have you ever been dumped – or dumped someone – by text?
Never me, but I may have done it myself. I know that’s horrendous, but it was when I was younger. I’m older and wiser now. I don’t think as Brits we’re very good at biting the bullet. So we drag things on because we don’t want to be horrible, then it gets to the point of a text because we’re too cowardly to do it properly.
Are you still looking for The One or are you easygoing about it?
I’m quite easygoing about it. I mean, everything you do in life is better when you share it with someone you love. And I would love to find the right person, get married and do all that sort of stuff, but if it doesn’t happen, it doesn’t happen. I’m quite happy on my own. So I’m not craving or desperate for it.
So you don’t feel the clock’s ticking to start a family?
No, although it’s getting to the point now where a lot of my friends are married and have got kids and all the rest of it. And I’m just Cool Uncle Pete. Which is weird but also quite fun.
