They may have been coupled up with other people when their Love Island journey began, but it quickly became clear that runners-up Gemma Owen and Luca Bish only had eyes for each other.
“Straight away I was like, ‘Yeah, he’s a bit of me,’” says Gemma, 19, as she reflects on their time in the villa. “He was cheeky, had a bit about him and his smile and his eyes. My mum even saw it straight away, I just got a good vibe from him.”
And Luca, 23, was equally smitten. “As soon as I walked through that door I could see I was attracted to her,” he says.
Now out of the Majorcan villa and back on UK soil, talk has turned to the couple’s future and making things official, with Luca teasing he has “something special planned”.
He also reveals he’s planning to move near dressage rider Gemma’s family home in Cheshire, where she lives with her mum Louise, former footballer dad Michael and siblings Jessica, 12, Emily, 14, and James, 16. “There is no middle ground – it’s Chester or nothing! I’m happy to go wherever she wants me to go,” says fishmonger Luca. “Hopefully if I move near her, in time we’ll get a place together.”
Here, Gemma and Luca open up about taking the next step, and if Gemma’s ex Jacques O’Neill would get an invite to their wedding.
Hi both! You’ve said you’ve got plans in mind for making things official between you, Luca. Can you give us a hint?
