When we catch up with Kimberley Walsh, the Girls Aloud singer is very tanned after a family holiday in Barbados but admits that, despite her natural glow, she’s exhausted.
“I was very pale before I went there, so I feel like it’s quite nice. I look healthy even though I’m shattered,” she tells us.
The 42-year-old star, who’s hiding from her three sons in the dining room of her Surrey mansion, is crawling towards the end of the Easter holidays when we catch up and is still making her way through piles of laundry after their trip abroad.
“I did loads the first couple of days [after she got back] and my husband’s case is still sat there and I’m just refusing to go near it as I’ve done four people’s washing already,” she says.
Barbados has a special place in Kimberley’s heart given that it’s where she and Justin Scott, her partner of 18 years, got married in 2016. Talking about their luxury getaway, she says, “It was amazing. We were there for 11 days and it was really nice to have that time.”
Aside from looking after her sons Bobby, nine, Cole, seven, and two-year-old Nate (who makes an appearance during the interview for a cuddle with his mum), Kimberley has a lot on her plate right now. She is about to start rehearsals for the forthcoming Girls Aloud tour – which marks 21 years since she and her bandmates Cheryl Tweedy, Nadine Coyle, Nicola Roberts and the late Sarah Harding were voted the winners of Popstars: The Rivals – and she couldn’t be more thrilled about it.
