QUEENS OF POP MADONNA AND TAYLOR ARE CHAMELEONS'

It’s been an exciting week for music fans, with two icons taking their turn in the spotlight for spectacular concert performances. All hail Taylor Swift and Madonna — the undisputed Princess and Queen of Pop.

Leicester Square in London was taken over by hordes of excitable Taylor Swift fans, many sporting sparkly dresses, glow sticks and memorabilia, ahead of the opening night screening of the singer’s Eras Tour concert film.

For many, it will be the first of several screenings they’ve bagged a ticket for — this movie looks set to be the highest-grossing concert documentary ever. For others, the cinematic performance will go some way to making up for the disappointment of failing to secure a ticket to one of Taylor’s sold-out live shows.

Fast-forward a couple of days, and 20,000 concertgoers are on their feet at London’s O2 Arena, awaiting the much-anticipated arrival of the original pop icon — Madonna. The atmosphere is electric as she wows the audience with a musical journey of her greatest hits, spanning four decades.

When tickets for Taylor’s worldwide Eras Tour were released in 2022, it sparked an unprecedented frenzy. A reported 3.5 million fans signed up for the Ticketmaster pre-sale — the largest registration in the site’s history — and resale tickets soon cropped up, costing up to an eye-watering £19,000. When the star released more dates, Swifties even joked about cancelling their weddings to be there.

Meanwhile, Madonna’s Celebration Tour — which will see the star perform to over a million fans across 78 dates around the globe — set fans back up to £1,300 a ticket, selling out within hours.
