YOUNG AND RESTLESS: Phyllis Contacts Summer

An anonymous caller instructs Summer to go to Chancellor Park, where she is thunderstruck to find Phyllis

“Shocked and stunned would definitely be an understatement!” says Allison Lanier (Summer). “Summer has been bottling up her emotions in order to give her mom the tribute she deserved, and she was ready to focus her energy on justice for Diane.”

Mother and daughter have a joyous reunion, and Summer wants to immediately contact Daniel, but Phyllis tells her that nobody else can know she’s is alive. Lanier explains, “After Phyllis confesses everything that happened with Stark, Summer understands her mom’s need for secrecy. This is a desperate situation with so much at stake for both of them.”

Which means also lying to Kyle after they promised not to keep secrets. “Summer hates lying and she’s not very good at it,” Lanier notes. “But her need to show loyalty to her mom will definitely weigh heavily on her.”

IN HER DEFENSE 

Jack urges Christine to investigate Stark in Phyllis’s murder.

Summer tells Kyle that she believes Diane is the reason her mother is dead; Kyle insists his mother is innocent.

At the motel, Stark confronts Phyllis for staying in town and attempts to dissuade her from revealing herself to her children. When Phyllis tells Stark that he does not have control over her, Stark retorts that she either remains dead to the world or he will kill her himself.

Kyle tells Jack that they need to prove Diane’s innocence for his mother’s sake as well as for the sake of his marriage to Summer.
