BRITNEY SPEARS made quite a splash when she returned to Instagram on Dec. 9 following a three-day hiatus. In a video clip set to the song “Santa Baby” by Eartha Kitt, the pop star danced suggestively while wearing a skintight red jumpsuit. At one point, she flashed the middle finger to the camera before sticking her face into a cake and rubbing vanilla frosting on her body. “Is it a little awkward or weird to watch ???” she wrote in the bizarre post, adding that her goals for the coming year are to attend a wedding, “sing a song or two and fall down eight times.”

Fans are understandably worried about the 41-year-old. Since being freed from her nearly 14-year conservatorship in November 2021, the “Toxic” singer has experienced a series of highs and lows, including her June marriage to model and budding actor Sam Asghari, 28, and the miscarriage she suffered a month before their wedding. Far from being the uncaged bird imagined by the #FreeBritney movement, she continues to chronicle the emotional pain and abuse she says she suffered at the hands of her father, Jamie, and mother, Lynne, via social media — and hasn’t been seen in public in four months. “Everyone was so happy for Britney when she was freed from her conservatorship, but her behavior has become more erratic ever since,” a source tells Star. “The people around her feel helpless because she’s so unstable.”
