BACK at it. On June 27, nearly one month after Johnny Depp won his $50 million defamation suit against ex-wife Amber Heard, the Pirates of the Caribbean star was spotted in Paris, where he's set to film his first movie in more than two years. The actor (said to be playing French King Louis XV in the upcoming flick) appeared to be in great spirits as he made his way from his French hotel to a private jet.
Whether he makes a safe landing in Hollywood remains to be seen. But an insider tells Star Johnny feels like he's been given a second chance - and he intends to make the most of it. During the highly publicized trial, the 59-year-old told jurors he'd lost "nothing short of everything" after Amber, 36, wrote an op-ed about surviving domestic violence for The Washington Post in 2018. (He previously lost a libel case against the U.K.'s Sun for calling him a "wife beater.") Roles dried up and he was fired from the hugely successful Pirates franchise. "The jury gave me my life back," he said after the new verdict. "I am truly humbled."
GETTING HELP
Humbled and hurting for cash. While a jury awarded him $10 million in compensatory damages and $5 million in punitive damages, the trial showed that Johnny had been hemorrhaging money on his lavish lifestyle for years. According to his former financial manager, the star, who owns a private island, among other properties, spent $100,000 a month on a private doctor and two nurses; $300,000 a month on staffers; and $10,000 a day on a security detail.
